Mahindra & mahindra launches SmartShift with the taglines “Transport ka Smart Tareeka” means “Smart way of transportation” and “Business ko Lift Karo” means “Lift the business”. Smartshift is an online platform for connecting Cargo owners and Transporters to connect with each other.
SmartShift was launched on Tuesday by Dr Pawan Goenka, Executive Director of Mahindra & Mahindra Group, Dr Anish Shah, Group President (Strategy), and Kausalya Sreenivasan, and this trio will be heading the platform. The service has been launched in Mumbai and will be extended to other towns and cities over time. The Smartshift is available on mobile app, website and other than this customers can directly call customer care center for booking Cargo Transportation services.
SmartShift is a digitally enabled, value-added service that will benefit both cargo owners and transporters –Pawan Goenka, executive director, Mahindra and Mahindra.
What SmartShift offers
To Cargo Owners
- Ability to create a job on app/website and provide details like Pickup date, Pickup point, Destination, Type of goods etc.
- Choose Vehicle type (Open-Body or Closed Body)
- Choose the bid from Transporters that appears on basis of details in previous steps.
- Choose Payment option (Advanced/Cash on Delivery/Payment on return)
- Ability to track the transportation in real time
To Smartshifters (Transporters)
Any small/medium/large entity working in logistics space can register themselves as SmartShifters. After proper Training, Documentation, Verification smartshifters can bid for the jobs created on the portal and accept jobs suitable to them.
SmartShift is expected to acheive nearly 5 Mn transactions in a year by targeting the small and medium scale commercial vehicles industry across India.
Recently many startups have entered the logistic space and exploring the Transportation Industry.
